Visitors are welcome as the new Grimbergen Experience opens its doors for the first time
GRIMBERGEN, Belgium – Grimbergen Abbey Brewery, known for brewing delicious and inviting Belgian-style beers, has unveiled a brand new interactive Grimbergen experience in the unique setting of the famous Grimbergen Abbey near Brussels, Belgium.
The Grimbergen Experience invites visitors to enter the rich world of Belgian beer and takes them on a journey through the history of Grimbergen Abbey and a world of exciting flavors, craftsmanship, innovation and the monastic art of brewing which has been mastered by the father on the historic site over the centuries.
The experience is creatively located on a mezzanine level overlooking the Abbey Brewery. At the entrance, visitors receive a smart RFID tag which they are encouraged to use throughout their visit to bring the experience to life.
As visitors walk through the experience, they can gain insight into the brewing process which combines brewing traditions learned from ancient books in the Abbey Library with new and innovative techniques to create unique batches in limited edition of exceptional premium beers.
The experience is a place to dive in and discover a hidden world of flavors and delights. Visitors even receive a personalized beer recommendation based on their time in the experience as well as the chance to design their perfect beer.
They can learn about the fine ingredients, including hops, some of which are grown by the father in the abbey gardens; walk through the brewing process from recipe development to bottling and, they might even see Father Karel Stautemas who combines his life as a purveyor to Grimbergen Abbey with that of the abbey brewer.

It is here, in the heart of Grimbergen, that we explore flavors and create our delicious beers and I look forward to sharing our story with many, many visitors”
Visitors to the Grimbergen Experience can book a guide who will share a wealth of information about the history of Grimbergen, the brewing process, and take them around the Abbey Gardens, and of course visitors will have the opportunity to complete their visit with a beer tasting.
To complete the occasion, head to Fenikshof, Grimbergen’s bar and restaurant where visitors can sample the unique flavors of Grimbergen beer on tap as well as restaurant dishes that pair perfectly with Grimbergen beers.
The opening of the new visitor experience comes a year after Grimbergen opened the state-of-the-art Grimbergen Abbey Brewery, which has restored brewing inside the walls of the abbey for the first time in centuries.

- The Grimbergen Experience is 40 minutes from Brussels Central Station by train; 30 minutes from Brussels by car and only 15 minutes by taxi from Brussels International Airport.
- Visitors can book tickets, including guided tours, online, or tickets can be purchased at Fenikshof, the bar and restaurant Grimbergen. Beer tasting is included in the ticket price
