Toys for Tots donations will be collected during the cycling holidays

APPLETON, Wisconsin (WBAY) – Toys for Tots collection boxes at businesses in the area are starting to fill with donations. The one from Bazil’s in Appleton is part of the New Belgium Toys for Tots Santa Ride 2021.

“We decided to do a little winter road and said to collect toys when we do. And we all dressed up as Santa Claus, decorated our bikes with lights, then we started pulling a sleigh with music and collecting toys and we started snowballing and becoming more and more bigger every year, ”says organizer Todd“ DJ ”Talady.

This year’s Santa Claus ride takes place on December 4th. Organizers say the ride will depart around 1:30 p.m. this afternoon from Houdini Plaza in Appleton. According to Talady, “we kind of go down College Avenue, loop through the Kimberly roundabout, hoping to meet the Kimberly Fire Department again, then walk through a little neighborhood there and we let’s end up at Tanner’s for a pizza.

The ride is fun, not a competition at all – and costumes are important, Talady adds: “Santa, an elf or a snowman, whatever your choice of Christmas outfit would be great.”

Spreading the holiday cheer while supporting a good cause is the goal of the ride. “It says a lot about the kindness and compassion of our community. And even with COVID last year, I thought it was going to be a little difficult, but it wasn’t. It was bigger than ever, ”says Talady.

Organizers are hoping even more people will get on their bikes and join the ride this year, bringing in a new unwrapped toy as an entry fee. And that the New Belgium Toys for Tots Santa Ride collect a semi-load of toys along the way, because they understand the impact this can have on the children in the community.
