Albany Symphony to perform in the ABAC series | New
TIFTON – The Albany Symphony Orchestra with Dr Patricia Weitzel returns as part of the ABAC Presents! Series on the Performing Arts at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
Weitzel and the Albany Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Claire Fox Hillard will take the stage on Oct. 3 at 3 p.m. at the Tift County High School Performing Arts Center, university officials said in a statement.
Weitzel will be present on the double bass during the concert, which will showcase a multitude of Italian medleys from Gabrieli, Respighi, Mascagni and Rossini.
Weitzel, professor of double bass at Columbus State University, has performed as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral performer, teacher and clinician in several countries including Argentina, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, Chile and Germany.
ABAC presents! is supported in part by the Georgia Council for the Arts through Georgia General Assembly appropriations. The Georgia Council for the Arts is also receiving support from its partner agency – the National Endowment for the Arts, university officials said.

Seasonal subscriptions for ABAC Presents! The Performing Arts Series costs $ 80 and can be purchased at arts.abac.edu. or by calling ABAC Ticket Line at (229) 391-4895. Doorstep tickets for the Albany Symphony Orchestra will be available at a cost of $ 10 for students and $ 20 for adults. ABAC students will be admitted free of charge with their identity card.
